THE ARTIVIST MANIFESTO

“I am not just an artist.
I build movements.

I use my production banner, Victoria Renee Productions, to create Afrosurrealist films, literature, audio narratives, and music centering people across the African diaspora living ordinary to extraordinary experiences.

My background in mental health—holding an M.A. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in forensics from Columbia University—deeply informs my character writing. It allows me to explore the sub-surface dialogues of human trauma, resilience, and emotion.

This psychological synthesis led to my selection as a George Lucas Scholar at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts, where I earned my MFA in Cinematic Writing.

"Through speculative technology, Afrosurrealism, and psychological drama, I aim to help underrepresented people feel seen, valued, and empowered."

ACADEMIC SYNTHESIS

The Forensic Mind
& Cinematic Lens

My artistic voice is rooted in the study of the human mind. Having earned an M.A. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in forensics from Columbia University, my creative narratives do not just display behavior—they analyze sub-surface motives, trauma, and psychological defense mechanisms.

This forensic clinical framework allows me to step beyond traditional drama into the realm of Afrosurrealism, where mental conflicts, personified emotions (like Trinity's Id, Ego, and Superego in Catharsis), and speculative future technologies interact with historical culture.

This synthesis earned me the honor of being named a George Lucas Fellow at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts. While at USC, I served as co-president of the African American Cinema Society, continuing the legacy of its creator John Singleton, and established the AACS Scholarship to support future voices.
